Road race plan - no primers on VO2 intervals

So I started the road race plan as the focus on Vo2 was what I need right now, something I noticed though is that you jump right into the efforts from Z2, there are no opener efforts or indeed a recovery period before they start.

Is this because this would mimic more of a road racing scenario as opposed to a standing start 4-8 minute hill climb for example?
