Hi Fascat team, I listened to the recent podcast that reviewed the procedure for the 20 min FTP test. One thing I didn’t hear discussed is if you need to take on any carbs prior to/during the test. I ask because I noticed that the “Warm Up Protocol” tab on the power zone excel file suggests taking 25g of carbs during part of the warm up prior to a time trial. The warm up profile on the FTP test workout looks identical to the warm up in the excel file. Should I be fueling during the FTP test warm up? As context, I always try to have some kind of meal about 2 hrs prior to a workout. I generally don’t eat anything during workouts that are in the 1-1.25 hr range, but will eat during longer workouts/rides.
Also, I’ll predict you will say it doesn’t matter too much as long as you do it the same way every time!
