For Race to Base

I wanted to ask a quick question to understand the philosophy about the (typically) 6 week ‘peaking’ training plans you offer (whether its TT, gravel, crit, etc, etc).

Form can seemingly be held for a few short weeks. Are these assumed ‘peaking’ weeks intended to be either:

A. within the typical 6 week discipline-specific plans you offer (before then returning back to volume building for the second half of the season) or…
B. do you complete the 6 week discipline-specific plan, THEN peak for, say 3-4 weeks (before then returning back to volume building for the second half of the season).

If you are doing a race specific plan, such as the gravel plan, leadville plan, etc. Those will have the taper built in so that you will be in peak form for race day. We recommend doing a race specific interval plan before these plans if possible to give you the “overload.” So for example doing climbing intervals followed by the gravel plan which will include simulation rides and your taper into the race.

If you have another race in the season you are looking to do, you can take a rest week after your race and then jump into say SSP4 followed by another race specific plan to have you ready for the 2nd half of your season.
